Hide cold bottled beer at the beach!

I ran across this must have coozy that is very stealthy. With fines for drinking on the beach of $500 or more, you have to take those extra steps to hide your glass bottle and not get caught drinking in public. What I like best is that it keeps your drink cold. The second thing is that it does an epic job of holding and protecting a glass bottle which can break. Lastly, well we all like beer at the beach but drinking in public can be a no-no and a big hassle if you get popped. Hide your beer in one of these and you can chill without a worry. Review : GoPro Hero Session

Review : GoPro Hero Session

I’ve had this little camera for about 1 month. My friend brought it on our “guys trip” to Mexico in October to Salina Cruz. The camera is much smaller than the standard Hero 4 which is why I like it so much for surfing. It takes some good video and even from the video you can get some nice still pictures. Here is a favorite one from my trip I’m still getting the hang of the controls which take a bit of time to learn but once you play with them a bit you get the hang of them. The other night I used a mouth mount while surfing. I worked really well but I learned that the session doesn’t work all the well in low light. There might be a setting but I didn’t find...

New board bag by Prolite to help ease the cost of surf travel.

When you want to go on a surf trip one of the first things you will need to buy is a board bag for your trip. Selection of the bag is a big deal. One of the biggest shockers is the cost of your board going with you. One way to save is to trick the airlines into thinking you have 2 board instead of 3! This board bag does just that with its ingenious design. I bought this bag for my trip to Mexico last month and learned there are a few things to consider before you buy it. The Smuggler board bag claims that it fits 3 boards but if you are going to take this bag with 3 boards on a trip you will not be able to wrap the rails in foam to add an additional level of protection. On my trip, I was only able to take 2 boards but because of the way the bag is built they fit fine with foam around the rails, top/bottom and by boards travelled fine without any dings. Pro-Lite Smuggler Series Surfboard Travel Bag (2+1...

The Surfboard Warehouse introduces the Finatic fin testing program:

The Surfboard Warehouse introduces the Finatic fin testing program:

Thanks to the Finatic fin testing program I never run out of fin combinations to get my boards dialed in. I liked the Finatic testing program so much I have stepped up my account to let me have two sets of fins out at a time.  I have been getting the most out of my surfboards and this has made a big difference in my surfing.  The V4 and Vangard model surfboards from Tomo are extremely sensitive to fin set ups and require you to either maximize for entry speed and down the line drive or I adjust  for a slower wave with more  sections for vertical maneuvers with a “loose set up”. A Thruster set up on the performance board with a numbster for drift out of my turns. Quad set up in case it big and soft. This will let me get into the wave as soon as possible and still have plenty a drive in case I’m behind a burger section. Www.TheSurfboardWarehouse.com.com They gave me great personal attention 3 different time I had questions over the phone. This would make a good gift for the surfer that loves gadgets and tinkering with everything.  ...

Review: Bully’s hot water rinse tank

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to show case my new find that I’m really enjoying. We as you know the temps are dropping just a bit now that we are at the end of September. Most mornings after my surf it is still in the mid 40’s and while I have a new wetsuit that keeps me warm I need to clean up before heading strait into work. I have known about this product for some time and I have used other similar product with pumps and shower heads etc. I find that this one is the best for my needs. It is simple, no parts to break, easy to fill and keeps the water warm. I just a hot water ( about 10 degrees hotter than you would use for a normal shower, four hours later is still feels amazing as you warm up quickly plus rinse your suit too.)  The cost is a bit more than you would expect but now that I have used it I’m very happy I bought it  you will be happy and have plenty of hot water to share. You can buy it at Wetsand.com use the link below...

Review: AM2 Tech Flex Surfboard Fins

Review: AM2 Tech Flex Surfboard Fins

I tried out these AM2 Tech Flex fins on 3 different boards as a quad and a thruster set ups.  I do have to say that these fins are to large for a guy my size ( 153lbs) and with the speed of the waves we have been having they are just to stiff.  The best times using these fins were at the  beach breaks where  waves  waves were racing down the line.  Could feel the flex in these fins most of the time but they were just a bit to large for me to get them to whip/spring me out of my turns.  Most of the time they gave me to much drive delaying my change in direction I was looking for.  With that said I will be dropping down a size and report back.  This is exactly why I love the Finactic fin testing program as you can experiment without the cost of buying a set of fins. Boards tested on Firewire Tomo Vanguard 5’6″- wave size 2-5ft reef and beach break.  Set up was as quad ( ok in beach breaks like Marina and Waddel), as a thruster ( poor – fair most of the time) Spots ridden Sewers, The Lane, Moss, 1st Peak, The Hook. Firewire V4    6’0″  Step up board for me.  The wave size was 5-8ft beach break and reef (Moss, Sewer Peak,  Rockview when set up as a thruster the board work very nice as the surf had a bit of power.  I never did try it as a thruster.
